Professional Bio
Bill Sakas
Bill is a Class A PGA Member with nearly 35 years experience teaching and playing in professional golf tournaments. Bill is a former touring pro and played in numerous PGA Tour events including two US Opens (1981 and 1986). Bill graduated from San Diego State in 1978 and was a three year letterman on the team which was ranked between 2nd and 4th in the nation. Bill learned the game under Hall of Fame teacher and player Johnny Revolta (1935 PGA and Western Open Champion) and spent 18 years under his tutelage. Bill was also fortunate enough to spend time working on his game with Sam Snead, Claude Harmon, Lighthorse Harry Cooper, George Fazio, and George Low. Bill’s playing accomplishments include being the winner of the 1982 Waterloo Open and 2002 Dunes Invitational. Bill won two IPGA events in 2004 and also in 2006 (Assistant’s Championship and Senior Masters). In 2007 Bill won his second consecutive Senior Masters Championship and was third in IPGA Senior Player of the Year points. Bill has also qualified multiple times for the PGA National Assistant’s Championship and the PGA National Senior Championship. Bill has shot 11 course records including 61 at Evanston Golf Club in 1996 and 63 at Chevy Chase in 2003. Bill has also recorded 6 holes in one.
Bill is very passionate and enthusiastic about golf and carries that into his daily teaching. His teaching stresses strong fundamentals around which his students build “their” swings. Over his many years Bill has developed a masterful eye and treats the causes of his students swing problems rather than the symptoms.
